About this study guide

Learning one language is a big project, and learning several calls for a clear system. This learning material looks at the methods experienced language learners use and explains the reasoning behind them. It covers how memory and forgetting work, spaced repetition and flashcards, and why focusing on the most frequent words and phrases is useful from the start. You will study the balance between input, such as reading and listening, and output, such as speaking and writing, and ways to find practice partners or other chances to use each language. Later sections discuss keeping multiple languages separate, choosing which language to add next, managing motivation and planning realistic weekly routines. Four levels, Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced and Expert, take you from a first study plan to refining a long-term multilingual approach at your own pace.

Each level is unlocked on its own

Who this level is for

This level is for anyone who wants to learn a new language but is unsure where to begin. It explains how language learning works and helps you set realistic goals, choose resources and build a study habit.

What you will be able to do

By the end of this level, you should be able to set clear, achievable goals, pick suitable study resources, use review techniques that support memory and follow a steady, realistic learning routine.

Level 2 / 4

Intermediate

What you will study

Topics include spaced repetition, learning words in context, noticing grammar patterns, using cognates and practising pronunciation with shadowing. You will also study how to balance reading, listening, speaking and writing each week.

Who this level is for

Aimed at learners who have studied at least one language and want to learn more efficiently. This level introduces well-known techniques for vocabulary, grammar and pronunciation that work across many different languages.

Level 4 / 4

Expert

What you will study

This stage covers assessing your level against common frameworks such as the CEFR, designing custom materials, learning specialist vocabulary and refining accuracy. You will also study how to keep several languages active over many years.
